Brief Description
"One Stop" Centres are structures for a comprehensive response to address gender-based violence and to complement the nation-wide efforts by the Ministry of Health, the National Police and the Ministry of Justice. In Rwanda, the first "One Stop" Centre was established in June 2009, at Kacyiru Police Hospital, Gasabo District, Kigali. The centre was named Isange Centre, which means "Feel free/Feel welcome", communicating a message of security and openess for the survivors. By establishing Isange Centres countrywide the National Police, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Justice aim at improving the linkages of different ministries, referrals and care of gender-based violence victims/survivors at centralized and decentralized levels.
